Moira Danis Presents CELTIC LEGACY at Don't Tell Mama
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, singer Moira Danis will return to the stage at Don't Tell Mama on March 3rd with her new show, Celtic Legacy, which debuted to an enthusiastic, sold-out crowd in December. She will be accompanied again by music director Wells Hanley on piano, with Noah Hoffeld on cello and Mike Lunoe on percussion. Moira will present a century spanning view of Celtic music. Inspired by a recent visit to her ancestors' homeland, this show will include material by songwriters both old and new, from traditional tunes to current songs by the likes of U2 and Phil Coulter.
Critic Marilyn Lester wrote in Theater Pizzazz, "She couldn't have sounded more Irish if the cabaret room had magically turned into a country pub. Danis' lilting operatic soprano was made for traditional Irish music...(her) strength is storytelling...she's animated and vibrant as she sings."
Using a rich musical tapestry, Moira celebrates not only her own heritage, but the musical legacy Ireland has given to the world. Directed by award-winning director Gerry Geddes, Celtic Legacy is a moving, joyous, dramatic reminder of music's ability to capture a moment in time and provide a snapshot of a country, a struggle, a history, a people and preserve it for generations to come. It will also allow audiences to once again experience the gorgeous vocals of Moira Danis, of whom critics have said: "...intelligence, sensitivity and lovely singing ", "...cabaret at its best", and "...will damn near levitate anyone who responds to excellence of song and singer."
