Megan Scully, a Fordham University sophomore, will make her debut as co-host with Tara Cuzzi of Ceol na nGael on Sunday, August 26 between 12:00-4:00 p.m. Megan replaces Colleen Taylor, whose last program will be on Sunday, August 19.

“We're excited to welcome Megan as the next Fordham student to host Ceol na nGael,” said Liz Noonan, the program’s co-producer. “She's been working with us as a production assistant for the last few months, and her positive energy is such an asset to the show. It's clear that Megan has Irish music in her heart, and I'm looking forward to hearing her music mix each Sunday.”

Ceol na nGael has long been a part of Megan’s life. Her grandparents relocated to the Bronx from Ireland and often listened to the program, which served as a comforting reminder of home. She has fond memories of listening to the show as a child with her mother and grandparents each Sunday while growing up in Monroe, NY. Her interest in Irish music and culture intensified after attending a family reunion in County Cork, Ireland, where she was thrilled to take part in quite a few impromptu family seisuins and ceilis. Megan intends to minor in Irish Studies.

“I am so excited to be a part of the Ceol na nGael team!” said Megan. “I look forward to sharing my love of Irish music with listeners as well as learning more about Irish music and culture.”

Since 2009, Colleen Taylor has helped build upon the successes of Ceol na nGael, which was established in 1974 by Fordham students Gerry Murphy and Mary Maguire and has since become the most popular Irish radio program in New York. She won the 2012 Laurence J. McGinley, S.J., Memorial Award, given to a Fordham University student for outstanding service to WFUV. Colleen is moving to Dublin in September to earn her Masters of Philosophy in Irish Writing at Trinity College.

“I might wind up back in radio, though – who knows?” said Colleen. “I plan to get involved with the Trinity radio station. I'm not ready to give it up yet!”
