Notable Broadway leading man and internationally recognized Glee star Matthew Morrison offered up a spectacular musical medley last night on the 2013 Olivier Awards with a tribute to the Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim/Arthur Laurents musical theatre staple WEST SIDE STORY.

Starting off with a jazzy and propulsive "Jet Song" leading into a spirited "Tonight", Morrison showed off his considerable triple threat abilities throughout the incredibly impressive sequence. Next, a short dance break set to strains of "Gee, Officer Krupke" and "America" with some choreographic back-up kept up the fever pitch before Morrison proceeding in launching into a full-voiced and absolutely lovely "Maria", ending on a tremendous falsetto note sure to please music lovers, WEST SIDE STORY fans and gleeks alike.

Morrison releases an album of standards later this year besides his weekly Glee duties, so there will certainly be more musical theatre classics paid homage in the grandest of fashions coming up in the next few months that we can all certainly look forward to enjoying as much as this.
