Louise Pitre to Mark 50th Anniversary of Edith Piaf's Passing at The Cabaret in Indy, 10/11-12

Experience the passion of Paris as Louise Pitre marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of legendary French chanteuse, Edith Piaf, with an evening of songs from France's favorite composers. Louise mesmerized audiences in her portrayal of the title character in Piaf, as Fantine in LES MISERABLES, as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! (for which she received a Tony nomination), and in Sweeny Todd and Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris. Louise will tear your heart out with such songs of heartbreak and l'amour as "Ne Me Quitte Pa," "Marieke," "J'avais Reve D'une Autre Vie" ("I Dreamed a Dream"), "La Vie En Rose" and more. (This performance will be sung in both French and English.)

Louise Pitre made her Broadway debut in the ABBA smash hit Mamma Mia!, receiving a Tony nomination for her performance. Known as Canada's first lady of musical theatre, Pitre's career spans theatre, television, and concert stages throughout North America and Europe.

Pitre headlined the Toronto, Broadway, and US touring company casts of Mamma Mia!. She is also known for her Montreal, Toronto, and Paris performances as Fantine in LES MISERABLES and the title character in Edith Piaf. Other theatre credits include leading roles in A Year With Frog and Toad, Mame at the Goodspeed Opera House, Annie Get Your Gun, Song & Dance, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, The World Goes Round and more.

Louise has recently done the reading of The Last Ship, a new musical by Sting, John Logan and Brian Yorkey directed by Joe Mantello. She is currently writing her one-woman show On The Rocks to premiere at Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto in September 2013.

In 2009 Pitre moved from the Broadway stage to make her Carnegie Hall debut singing the role of Ulrika in the concert version of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaseus' musical Kristina. She later reprised this role in the 2010 Royal Albert Hall performance. Pitre's television credits include Lifetime's A Christmas Wedding, Recipe for a Perfect Christmas, the CBC biopic Celine, and more. She can currently be seen on Bravo! as the host of Star Portraits.Pitre's voice can be heard on her albums La Vie En Rouge, Shattered, All of My Life Has Led To This, and Songs My Mother Taught Me. She is also heard as Fantine on the Paris cast recording of LES MISERABLES and Ulrika in the Kristinacast recording.
