Lincoln Center Education, the education cornerstone of Lincoln Center celebrating its 40th year as a global leader in arts education and advocacy, continues its Next Stage series in April with a focus on challenges and opportunities for engaging young people in the arts. The event, Monday, April 25 at Lincoln Center's Clark Studio Theater, will be hosted and moderated by Russell Granet (Executive Vice President of Lincoln Center Education, Community Engagement, and International), and will examine children and families, and their access to arts and culture events and programs, as well as geographical and financial limitations as barriers.

Joining Granet in conversation are three panelists, each a cultural leader from New York City: Courtney J. Boddie (Director of Education/School Engagement, The New Victory Theater), Sarah Calderon (Managing Director, ArtPlace America), and Jason Yoon (Director of Education, Queens Museum).

Said Russell Granet: "The arts provide students the unique ability to develop a balance of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation; behaviors that can lead them to success in all academic areas, and in all areas of life. All those committed to a well-rounded education for all students need to understand the unparalleled value that an arts education can bring to a young person's future. It is our responsibility to spark this conversation with educators, parents, policy-makers and all those interested in improving teaching and learning in our schools."

This event will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Clark Studio Theater, located on the 7th floor of the Samuel B. and David Rose Building at Lincoln Center, 65th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Reception follows.

This Next Stage event is co-presented by the Archive of New York City Cultural Policy, a resource for nonprofit organizations working to provide arts education services to New York families, schools and community-based organizations.

Tickets for Lincoln Center Education's Next Stage series are free with reservations required in advance. Reservations can be made at lincolncenter.org.
