Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, Harlem One-Stop and the Harlem Cultural Collaborative invites members of the press, travel industry and other stakeholders to a preview event for Harlem Renaissance 100, a community celebration of the centennial of the Harlem Renaissance. The preview includes the weekend's Harlem Open House followed by historical neighborhood tours and a reception for media and travel industry stakeholders.
"On the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, it's plain to see: Harlem is a cultural capital in its own right," said Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer. "Come discover the storied institutions and trailblazing artists that call Harlem home!"
The event, an open house at City College of New York's Great Hall, will showcase a range of Harlem cultural resources and organizations, including Harlem Stage, the Apollo Theater, the Jazz Museum in Harlem, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Museum of the City of New York, Harlem One Stop, Langston Hughes House, the Morris-Jumel Mansion, and more. Performances and demonstrations by participating institutions will be scheduled throughout the day, and participants will introduce new programming and products for 2019.
Following the open house preview, Harlem Cultural Collaborative members will conduct historical neighborhood tours and sponsor a reception for travel industry stakeholders and members of the press.
