LA TRAVIATA Will Continue at the Arena di Verona
Performances are scheduled for Aug. 29 and Sept. 5 and 12, with each performance beginning at 9 p.m.
Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata will continue its 2026 run at the Arena di Verona beginning Saturday, Aug. 29, as part of the 103rd Arena di Verona Opera Festival. Performances are scheduled for Aug. 29 and Sept. 5 and 12, with each performance beginning at 9 p.m.
The production is directed by Scottish opera director Paul Curran, with sets by Juan Guillermo Nova, costumes by Stefano Ciammitti, lighting by Fabio Barettin and choreography by Kyle Lang. The production places Verdi’s opera in Paris at the turn of the 20th century and incorporates the Moulin Rouge into its staging. The opera is performed in Italian with English subtitles and has an approximate running time of three hours and four minutes.
The Aug. 29 performance will feature Rosa Feola as Violetta Valéry, Adam Smith as Alfredo Germont, Ludovic Tézier as Giorgio Germont, Anna Werle as Flora Bervoix and Francesca Maionchi as Annina. Francesco Ivan Ciampa will conduct. The cast also includes Carlo Bosi as Gastone, Nicolò Ceriani as Baron Douphol, Jan Antem as the Marquis d’Obigny, Gabriele Sagona as Dr. Grenvil, Andrea Vincenti as Giuseppe and Carlo Bombieri as Flora’s servant and a commissioner.
The Sept. 5 performance will again feature Feola, Werle, Maionchi, Bosi, Ceriani, Antem and Sagona, with René Barbera as Alfredo Germont and Luca Salsi as Giorgio Germont. Ciampa will conduct. The Sept. 12 performance will feature Yusif Eyvazov as Alfredo Germont, with the remaining principal cast including Werle, Maionchi, Bosi, Ceriani, Antem and Sagona.
