Nikki Blonsky, the actress best known for her role in the musical movie version of HAIRSPRAY, will join the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles for a screening of the film. LAist reports that the event will take place on July 31 during an 8:30 screening at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

"We are delighted to screen this wonderful film in such a unique setting with Nikki Blonsky, herself,'" GMCLA Executive Director Thom Lynch said in a statement. "We are deeply grateful to HBO and Hollywood Forever for their generous support of this family-oriented event."

In addition to starring as Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 movie musical version of Hairspray, Blonsky recently starred in the ABC Family series "Huge." Her other TV and film credits include Waiting for Forever, Harold, "Valemont" (MTV), "Ugly Betty" and Lifetime's Queen Sized. Blonsky made her nightclub debut at Feinstein's in 2008 with her one woman show, "Coming Home."

HAIRSPRAY is based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters, who served as a creative consultant on the musical comedy. It features a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. HAIRSPRAY features an original score by Academy Award-nominated Marc Shaiman (who co-wrote the music and lyrics for the animated musical, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut) and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
