Kirk Douglas Performs His One-Man 'BEFORE I FORGET' on His Home Stage at CTG Beginning 3/6

By:

Center Theatre Group announces an exciting coup with the addition of mega-star Kirk Douglas' new one-man show "Before I Forget," directed by Jeff Kanew, to DouglasPlus, the new programming for the CTG/Kirk Douglas Theatre.

Performances will be on Fridays, March 6 and 13 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, March 8 and 15 at 2 p.m.

Press notes state, "He was a ragman's son who became a Hollywood legend and now, born storyteller Kirk Douglas at last steps onto the stage to reflect on his remarkable life and career. "Before I Forget" is an intimate evening with one of the most affable, talented and mesmerizing icons of the screen.

The 92-year-old author, philanthropist and star of such classic films as "Spartacus," "Seven Days in May" and "Lust for Life" has long promised to appear at his namesake, the Kirk Douglas Theatre, according to CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie, "We've been waiting to hear the stories from the man himself and now he's living up to his word. How lucky are we!"

Douglas was the very first actor to speak on the stage of the Kirk Douglas Theatre during the celebratory events for the theatre's opening in the fall of 2004. He and his wife Anne (a former CTG Board member) generously contributed to the funding for the creation of the theatre.

Tickets for "Before I Forget" are available currently to Center Theatre Group donors. Remaining tickets, priced at $25, will go on sale on Tuesday, February 24.

Tickets for other DouglasPlus events are available by calling (213) 628-2772 or online at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org. During the run of Danny Hoch's "Taking Over" through February 22 at the Douglas, tickets may be purchased at the theatre's box office beginning two hours before curtain.

Funding for DouglasPlus is provided by The James Irvine Foundation's Artistic Innovation Fund and the Leading for the Future Initiative, a program of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

The Kirk Douglas Theatre is located at 9820 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232. The newly designed bar area in the lobby of the theatre, The Lounge, features pre-show box dinners, sandwiches and other snacks.
