Theatre stars and Broadway-related programs were quite visible on the list of 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, with "High School Musical" and Hugh Jackman among the nominees.

The nominations were announced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced the nominees this morning.  Hosted by Conan O'Brien, the Emmys will be broadcast live on NBC from L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, August 27th.

"High School Musical," which has been wildly successful for the Disney channel, scored with the Emmy committee as well.  The TV musical received 6 nominations--for Outstanding Children's Programming, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Casting, and Outstanding Music and Lyrics (two nods for "Get'cha Head in the Game" and "Breaking Free).  "That Baby of Mine," written for ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney" version of Once Upon a Mattress, competes in the latter category, as well.

For hosting the 59th Annual Tony Awards, Tony Award-winner Jackman (The Boy from Oz) was nominated in the category of Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.  Elliot Lawrence also received a nod for his musical direction of the Tonys.

"South Pacific: In Concert from Carnegie Hall" also netted a nomination for Paul Gemignani's musical direction, and is nominated for Outstanding Special Class Program.

Among theatre veterans nominated in the numerous acting categories include Blythe Danner, Jeremy Irons, Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Helen Mirren, Alfre Woodard, Swoosie Kurtz, Megan Mullally, Shirley Knight and Stockard Channing.

In addition, the HBO special "All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise," featuring Rosie O'Donnell, wife Kelli and numerous Broadway celebrities, received 3 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Nonfiction Special.
