Internet Meme Sensation, Grumpy Cat, Dies at Age 7 - Check Out Our Flashback Photos of Grumpy With the Cast of CATS

Grumpy Cat, the feline internet celebrity who took the world by storm with her "grumpy" demeanor, has died at age 7, according to The New York Times.

The cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, died from complications from a urinary tract infection, according to a tweet from the official Grumpy Cat Twitter account.

"Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world - even when times were tough," the post read.

Grumpy Cat first rose to fame six years ago, when her owner, Tabatha Bundesen, posted her photo to Reddit. This first photo sparked a slew of memes, making Grumpy Cat a household name. She was even named "Meme of the Year" at the 2013 Webby Awards.

Grumpy's likeness has appeared on merchandise items, she was in a commercial for Honey Nut Cheerios, she was a "spokescat" for the cat food brand Friskies, and she even starred in a Lifetime movie, "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever."
