Glengarry Glen Ross, which won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play, has now recouped its entire $2 million investment and has moved into profits; it will end its limited engagment on Sunday, August 28th.

The David Mamet play is currently running at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th St.), where it opened on May 1st, 2005 after beginning previews on April 8th.  Liev Schreiber also received a Tony Award for his performance; actors Alan Alda, Gordon Clapp and director Joe Mantello were also nominated, as was scenic designer Santo Loquasto.  His lavish and detailed recreations of a Chinese restaurant (complete with aquarium) and a real estate office are likely to have been the most expensive elements of the show.

Glengarry Glen Ross, which follows a group of salesmen as they claw, scheme and fight for their dignity in the 1980s, also features Jeffrey Tambor, Frederick Weller, Tom Wopat, and Jordan Lage.  The original 1984 production won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The producers (The Roundabout Theatre Company is among them) have announced plans for a limited engagement in London in 2006 and there will be a national touring production in 2006-2007.  Appropriately enough, Glengarry Glen Ross celebrated its 100th performance on Wednesday, July 27th, the day of its recoupment.
