Some new casting has been revealed for the upcoming television remake of the 1980's classic BEACHES.

Fun Home's resident Small Alison, Gabriella Pizzolo, and Matilda's Grace Capeless are set to join the cast of the upcoming remake as the youthful counterparts of adult stars, Idina Menzel and Nia Long, in the roles of C.C. Bloom and Hillary Whitney.

The film will be helmed by director Allison Anders, with a screenplay by Bart Barker and Nicole Beckwith, and is set for a television release on Lifetime in 2017.

Gabby Pizzolo is currently flying high on her return to Broadway in Fun Home and was previously seen on Broadway as Matilda in Matilda the Musical. Grace Capeless has also had an impressive Broadway career portraying Young Nala in The Lion King, Lavender in Matilda the Musical, and as part of the cast of A Christmas Story.

Beaches follows "the serendipitous meeting of two youngsters, CC and Hillary, on the Venice Boardwalk, who, though worlds apart in lifestyle, embark on unexpected and lifelong friendship. Menzel's CC is an aspiring singer trying to make it in Los Angeles until she is discovered by a director who gives CC her first big shot. Hillary, (currently uncast but portrayed by Barbara Hershey in the original film), is the daughter of a prominent civil rights lawyer who struggles to find her own destiny. Their friendship-even with its ups and downs-sustains them for decades."

The original film raked in $57 million at the domestic box office, and its anthem, "Wing Beneath My Wings" went on to win Record and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
