In a bold and unexpected fusion of disciplines, multidisciplinary artist Radmila Lolly continues to redefine performance with her latest concept, DIVA x Basketball. Blending the physical language of sport with the emotional depth of opera, Lolly creates a new form of storytelling that connects movement, music, and identity.
The workshop opened with a powerful and intimate moment. An adult basketball player teaches a young boy the fundamentals of the game. Each movement carries meaning. Dribbling becomes discipline. Shooting becomes focus. Repetition becomes growth. The child reflects the player’s younger self, reminding the audience that every path begins with a dream.
At the heart of the story is a simple truth. Every child has a dream. That was my dream.
The moment evolves into a symbolic transition. The ball is passed forward, and with it, the narrative shifts. The boy completes his story, and the world of DIVA begins.
From there, the performance transforms into a cinematic operatic experience. Music, fashion, and storytelling merge into one language. Lolly moves beyond traditional opera, incorporating visual art, choreography, and immersive staging to create a multidimensional performance. It is not just a concert and not just theater. It is a living composition of emotion and movement.
DIVA x Basketball is not only about performance. It is about connection. It shows that the discipline of sport and the expression of art come from the same place. Dedication, resilience, and the courage to pursue something greater.
With this work, Radmila Lolly continues to shape a new space where sports and high art meet, proving that different worlds can speak the same language when driven by passion and vision. In the end, it all becomes culture.
