FRIGID Festival Presents Solo Performer Jim Loucks' New York Premiere Of BOOGER RED

Solo performer and playwright Jim Loucks brings his Southern storytelling style to the 2019 FRIGID Festival with his one-man show Booger Red Feb 20- Mar 10, 2019 (Under St Marks 94 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10009). Booger Red is directed by Lisa Chess.

Jim Loucks' new solo performance, loosely based on stories from his childhood as a Preacher's Kid, focuses on his relationship with his father, a Hellfire and Brimstone Southern Baptist preacher, and his struggle to come out from under the shadow of his larger-than-life persona. It is the story of someone finding their own unique voice, resisting the pressures of society's ideas of who they should be, and forging their own way.

Booger Red was developed as part of an Artist Residency with the City of Madisonville, KY and the Mahr Park Charitable Trust, and premiered at their Bacon, Blues and Big Stories Festival in October.

Loucks has previously traveled the country with his first two solo shows Cemetery Golf and The Biscuiteater, which had successful runs at the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA, United Solo in NYC, Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, FronteraFest in Austin, and the Fringes in Orlando, San Diego, Hollywood, San Francisco, Boulder, Scranton, Chicago, Tucson, Ottawa and the Cincy Fringe, where he received a CityBeat critic's pick. Winner of Best Solo Performance at the Tucson Fringe for The Biscuiteater.
