Lincoln Center Theater recently announced that a new production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, featuring Academy Award and Tony nominee Ethan Hawke in the title role, is one of four upcoming productions to be produced during the 2013-2014 season. The play, directed by Jack O'Brien, will begin performances Thursday, October 24 in the Vivian Beaumont Theater.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which the Academy Award and Tony nominee was promoting his upcoming action film Getaway opposite Selena Gomez, Hawke spoke about the upcoming stage project.

"It's what I've been spending the summer doing, prepping for that," shared Hawke. "Unfortunately, these British punks, they grow up on this stuff; so, I'm trying to do America proud. Stand up and do some American Shakespeare."

Hawke's Broadway credits include: The Coast of Utopia (Tony nom.), Henry IV, The Seagull. Off-B'way: Sophistry, The Late Henry Moss, The Bridge Project (Drama Desk nom.). Films include: Training Day (Academy Award nom.) and Before Sunset (Academy Award nom. as a writer, Best Adapted Screenplay). Hawke directed the films Chelsea Walls, Straight to One (also wrote) and The Hottest State (also wrote & appeared). He has written two novels.
