Duplex Cabaret Theatre Presents THE MEETING, 12/18

By:

THE MEETING* is a "delightfully droll" (Time Out New York) monthly comedy/variety show for homosexuals and their friends.  It's a gay romp through politics, sexual and otherwise, social news, music, skits, and other important life-changing information.  The Meeting* returns to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre on December 18, 2010 at 9:30 pm with writer/host Justin Sayre

Past "agenda items" have included the continuing romantic saga of gay penguins at the San Francisco Zoo, a nativity play celebrating the birth of Quentin Crisp, a guide to the so-called "gay panic" defense, and musical numbers with popular performers such as Poor Baby BreeMolly Pope, and Cole Escola.  The December holiday show will feature musical director Trapper Felides (Our Hit Parade, Trapper's Greatest Hits; Upright Cabaret) and a cast of surprise guest stars.

The Meeting* operates under the myth of the "gay agenda" and is structured as any organizational meeting for homosexuals would be -- business of the day, upcoming events and social issues are discussed, ridiculed, and interwoven between comedy sketches, musical numbers, and other "homo-hijinks."

Justin Sayre demonstrated a supernatural instinct for "camp" at an early age, and it shines throughout The Meeting*.   Justin is a child of Forty Fort, Pennsylvania who moved to New York believing it was still 1947.  He was terribly misinformed.  In 2006, Justin received rave reviews for his cabaret, "Without A Song."  As an actor, he has worked and studied with some of the finest professionals in New York.  As a gay, Justin has excelled at scarf placement, Judy hands, and a healthy but firm love of the American musical.   He has been called "remarkable" and "an avatar of modern-retro cultivation" by Time Out New York.

The official monthly podcast of The Meeting*, featuring Justin and MAC Award-winner Matt Sigl, is available at www.themeetingpodcast.blogspot.com.
