Dance Magic Dance! Musical Adaptation of Jim Henson's LABYRINTH in Development

Theatre fans, prepare to head back into Jim Henson's Labyrinth. In a recent interview with Forbes, Brian Henson, CEO of the Henson Company, revealed that a stage adaptation of the classic 80s fairy tale is currently in development.

Henson dropped the big news while discussing a long-rumored sequel to the cult classic saying, "We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage. Those are the two areas of excitement for the Labyrinth property that we have. We are working on both of those but I certainly don't have a timeline for them."

As to where the adaptation could end up? Henson revealed that London's West End could be the first stop for the show when asked if Jareth and co. would be headed for New York stating, "Not necessarily Broadway, it could be for London's West End, but it will be a stage show, a big theatrical version. It's very exciting."

David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly starred in the original 1986 film about 16-year-old girl who is given 13 hours to solve a magical labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King.
