The Broadway at Birdland concert series has announced that Colleen McHugh will be making her Birdland debut on Monday, October 24 at 7pm.

Award-winning NYC cabaret favorite (and Second City alum) Colleen McHugh brings her trademark vocals and magical musical improvisation to this hilarious and heartbreaking collection of songs for the terminally hopeful/truly hopeless. There will be songs by Amanda McBroom, Jerry Herman, John Bucchino, Harold Arlen, Randy Newman and many more. Jody Shelton is musical director/pianist, and Matt Munisteri will be on guitar.

Colleen McHugh is a 2011 Bistro Award winner ('Outstanding Entertainer'), 2011 Nightlife Award finalist and 2011 MAC Award nominee (‘Outstanding Musical Comedy'). The New York Times featured Ms. McHugh earlier this year for her commitment to the continued performance of the American Songbook. Her award-winning Calendar Girl cabaret series has produced a new show in NYC every month for three years, with subjects ranging from Cole Porter's French-themed songs to a musical exploration of the color green. McHugh joined Michael Feinstein in his Now & Then concert series at Carnegie Hall, and sang in a tribute to Jerry Herman at Lincoln Center. She began performing comedy and improvisation with Chicago's legendary Second City Theatre, and has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Colbert Report." She writes and produces "Reel 13," WNET/Thirteen's weekly classic film series. Her album "Songs of Self-Delusion" is available on iTunes.
