It may still be winter outside, but it's warm and cozy at the Bay Street Theatre on Saturday nights as CABARET @ THE BAY continues, Saturdays at 10 pm. On Saturday March 21st, cabaret artist Marlene Markard makes her Bay Street debut, singing both standards and classic favorites for young and old to enjoy.

Marlene likes to say that she was born with a boa in her hand. She began her performance career at the tender age of six, singing and performing in numerous theatres and choirs throughout the years. In 1999, Marlene began appearing in top cabaret clubs in New York City, including the renowned Don't Tell Mama's, Rose's Turn, and The Duplex.

Like all great musical artists, Ms. Markard is a storyteller at heart. She renders cabaret standards with a fresh, modern interpretation and brings intimacy to familiar Broadway tunes. Recognizable for her
waist-length red hair, Marlene's style is evocative, energetic, playful, and timeless. She brings a level of maturity and insightfulness to the stage --well beyond her years.

While Marlene is also an accomplished classical pianist (having studied at Juilliard, The Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes College of Music), on this evening she will be accompanied by a pianist she works with often, Dee Laveglia. The evening promises to be entertaining and
enlightening. In Ms. Markard's own words, "I've reached an age where I can finally say I have experienced the full range of human emotion and, in the words of Stephen Sondheim, 'I'm still here'-and loving every minute of it."

Cabaret@ The Bay takes place Saturdays at 10pm, with Denice Given & Company appearing March 28th. Tickets are $20 and can be reserved by calling Bay Street's Box Office which re-opens March 17th at 631-725-9500. Any remaining seats may be purchased at the door on the night of the show.
