Champions of the Dance is an evening of hypnotic music and graceful dancing.  In this day of television's popular dance competitions, you don't find young Fred Astaires and Ginger Rogers in the movies, but in elite dance competitions for ballroom dancing. Many of these contestants including Delyan Terziev and Boriana Deltcheva (who were featured on Dancing with the Stars with Sheryl Crow), Gherman Mustuc and Iveta Lukosiute (the reigning World Professional Ten Dance Champions), Matt and Karen Hauer (National Mambo Champions), Tony Scheppler and Erin Bomboy (the reigning North American Smooth champions who have been appeared in Enchanted and Mona Lisa Smile) and Mayo Alanen and Lisa Vogel (seen on PBS's America's Ballroom Challenge and current Rising Star Smooth Champions) will perform to the rhythms of the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba and more.

Champions of the Dance is the first of the recently announced The Town Hall 2009 season that includes Mariza, Natalie MacMaster, Bebel Gilberto, Tango's Romular Ensemble and the hit series Broadway By The Year ®.  The complete 2009 season is available as a subscription series, or individually, with subscriptions available now directly for The Town Hall.

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, the stage has been graced by Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis.  Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw. For over a decade, The Town Hall has hosted live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The Town Hall has produced a number of new and critically acclaimed musical series, which include The Century of Change, Not Just Jazz, Broadway By The Year ® and The Broadway Cabaret Festival.

All tickets for The Town Hall shows are available through TicketMaster, 212-307-4100, or www.ticketmaster.com, or by visiting The Town Hall Box Office between noon and 6 PM (except Sundays) at 123 West 43rd Street, 212-840-2824. For more information, visit www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
