Bravo is Developing a Reboot of QUEER AS FOLK

A reboot of Queer as Folk is in the works at Bravo, according to Deadline. The reboot will be based on the UK series, from original series creator Russell T. Davies, writer/director Stephen Dunn and Universal Cable Productions.

The new series will be written and directed by Dunn and will feature new characters in a new setting, is described as a modern take on the original British series that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy.

The original Queer as Folk starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam and Craig Kelly, and it chronicled the lives of three gay men living in Manchester's gay village around Canal Street. It ran for eight episodes on Channel 4 in 1999 and a two-part follow-up aired in 2000.

Dunn and Davies will executive produce with Nicola Shindler of Red Productions, and Lee Eisenberg of Quantity Entertainment with Emily Brecht of Quantity co-executive producing. Digital Rights Group will also produce. Universal Cable Productions is the studio.
