After slowly making her way back into the spotlight with performances at the Super Bowl and Grammys, Jennifer Hudson appeared on the Friday, February 27th episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show singing her new single, "If This Isn't Love."

On Sunday February 8th, 2009, Jennifer picked up her first Grammy award for best R&B album. In her acceptance speech she paid tribute to her mother, brother and nephew, who were murdered in Chicago in October - allegedly by her estranged brother-in law describes the website.

"I would like to thank my family in heaven and those who are here today," she said onstage at the Grammys.

Jennifer's exposure during the third season of TV's American Idol in 2004 introduced her to a nation duly impressed with her potent soulfulness.

After Idol, Jennifer auditioned for the part of Effie in Dreamgirls, beat out thousands of contenders for the coveted role and went on to win an Oscar.
