On Monday, December 5, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will illuminate the 40-foot-tall Christmas tree in Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza-which Time Out New York has hailed as one of the City's trees "worth seeking out on a cold winter's night." The balsam fir from Canaan, Vermont, will sparkle with holiday colors each night through the holiday season.

Free holiday cookies will be handed out and, of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without a special guest appearance from Santa himself. The event will also feature performances from the Packer Collegiate Chamber Choir and D.E.E.P. and a visit from Frosty the Snowman.
