The Awesome 80s Prom, the nostalgic interactive show that has been a regional hit in a number of cities, will open in Las Vegas next season.

The show has been seen in Baltimore as well as Minneapolis, where it will soon celebrate its one-year anniversary. The Chicago production of the show has also been running for over six months with no end in sight, and it also continues its hit Off-Broaway run.

"The Awesome 80s Prom is an interactive experience in the style of Tony n' Tina's Wedding and The Donkey Show set at Wanaget High's Senior Prom... in 1989! All your favorite characters from your favorite '80s movies are at The Prom, from the Captain of the Football Team to the Asian Exchange Student, from the Geek to the hottie Head Cheerleader, and they're all competing for Prom King and Queen. And just like on American Idol, the audience decides who wins, all while moonwalkin' to great retro hits like 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!,' state press notes.

The Awesome 80s Prom was conceived and directed by Ken Davenport and written by Davenport and "The Class of 1989", a group of performers including Sheila Berezan, Alex Back, Adam Bloom, Anne Bobby, Courtney Balan, Nicole Cicchella, Mary Faber, Stephen Guarino, Jeff Hiller, Emily McNamara, Troy Metcalf, Jenna Pace, Amanda Ryan Paige, Brian Peterson, Jessica West Regan, Kathy Searle, Mark Shunock, Josh Walden, Noah Weisberg, Brandon Williams, Simon Wong and Fletcher Young.

In addition to The Awesome 80s Prom, Davenport is currently producing Altar Boyz (winner, 2005 Outer Critics Award – Best Off-Broadway Musical) with Robyn Goodman (Avenue Q), now at New World Stages; and developing a new musical based on the book and film, Somewhere in Time. Davenport was profiled online and in the premiere issue of Experience magazine as a Broadway "up-and-comer" and won the 2003 Acclaim Screenwriting Award for his television pilot, "I.C.A." He served as the Assoc. General Manager for the recent Broadway revival of Gypsy.

The Awesome 80s Prom continues to perform on Saturday evenings at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). The Prom is at 8 PM; doors open at 7:30 PM followed by dancing and Duran Duran. Tickets are from $49.99; after the Prom, party-goers can boogie all night at Webster Hall for free with each paid admission.
