The three-time New York Innovative Theatre Award winning Theatre C will present a concert of songs from the acclaimed musical Radiant Baby (book by Stuart Ross, music by Debra Barsha and lyrics by Stuart Ross, Ira Gasman and Debra Barsha) at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) on February 24, 2014 at 9:30 PM. Theatre C Producing Artistic Director, Carlos Armesto, will direct the concert. The event is a benefit for Theatre C.

The performers for the concert include Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies, HBO's Looking), Tony Award Nominee Robin De Jesús, Kelvin Moon Loh (Here Lies Love), Nikka Graff Lanzerone (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), Sean Allan Krill, Sawyer Nunes (Matilda), Brian Charles Rooney (Pop!), Ashanti J'Aria (Disaster), Chris Hall, and more.

Theatre C, in consultation with Artistic Director John Dias of Two River Theater (Red Bank, NJ), is working with the writing team to re-conceive the musical based on the life of the famed artist Keith Haring, as suggested by Keith Haring: The Authorized Biography by John Gruen, who is also an artistic consultant on Radiant Baby. In this re-imagined version of the acclaimed piece, the audience members are the guests at the Party of Life in 1990, celebrating Keith Haring's body of work. The event abruptly transforms into an unexpected joyride through his existence, as we face the joys, obsessions, inspirations, and addictions that defined Haring's short, yet unparalleled life, from unassuming misfit artist to superstar maestro and activist. The experience explores the nature of art, the desperate search for fame and connection, and the need to leave a legacy before death takes its toll.

Theatre C is developing Radiant Baby with plans for a full production, which will be an exhilarating 360-degree immersive experience with supercharged choreography, surround sound and video, and the audience moving through the space as part of the action. This new draft will have an invitation-only reading in February at Alvin Ailey Studios. "We are blessed and excited to re-work our show, which is very dear to our hearts," says Barsha, the musical's composer and lyricist. "It's an exciting experience working with Carlos Armesto and John Dias. Carlos has a great kinetic spirit and vision for the piece, and John Dias is an incredibly sharp and nurturing advisor," says Ross, the book writer and lyricist. Radiant Baby was originally developed at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center.
