A Class Act NY Hosts HAIRSPRAY Workshops with Marissa Perry, 4/25

By:

The "ultimate feel-good show," Hairspray, opened on Broadway in August, 2002 and played for an astonishing seven years and 2,642 performances. The musical was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards and won eight, including Best Musical and Best Actress.

The story is set around an unlikely heroine, the loveable and pleasantly plump Tracy Turnblad in pre-integrated Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1960s. In Tracy we learn that change is possible if you're courageous and relentlessly optimistic. When Tracy's dream of dancing on The Corny Collins Show, a local television teen dance show, comes true, she is catapulted to overnight stardom. She uses her celebrity to launch a campaign to integrate the show. It is with sheer determination that Tracy ultimately succeeds in her pursuit.

Join Hairspray star, Marissa Perry, Artistic Director, Jessica Rofé and a New York City talent agent in the Hairspray workshop. Marissa's wondrous, positive energy will inspire your children and teach them the importance of persistence, patience, confidence and optimism, the same attributes that Tracy's character possesses.

Lucky students will work on scenes, songs and a dance combo from Hairspray. In the latter part of the day, kids will work on 32 bars of their own music and get feedback and coaching from Perry, Rofé, and a talent agent.

Artistic Director, Jessica Rofé will assure that your children walk away with an invaluable education and memories they will cherish forever. Learn from the pros what it really takes to make it on Broadway!

Space is limited to insure that all students get the attention they deserve.
