The Five Irish Tenors make a much-anticipated stop at the Spencer Theater today, February 25 at 7 p.m. for a concert packed with their grand vocal tradition of lyricism, dramatic flair, boisterous charm and operatic style. Accompanied by two grand pianos, the multi-award winning tenors will be singing a program packed with Irish classics like "Down By The Sally Gardens," "My Wild Irish Rose," "Green Green Grass of Home," and "Danny Boy," as well as American folk rock favorites like "The Piano Man" and "Bridge Over Troubled Waters."

This was our first ever 'tour,' our first time outside the dome theater where we conducted our Monday-Wednesday after-school drama program. The beautiful Moving Arts Performance Center where we rehearse (a transformed casino gambling hall) is a testament to what is possible in Española, but our theater remains a distinct contrast to UWC's sprawling high-tech campus just outside Las Vegas, New Mexico. This campus features a gigantic castle on a hill, a gym, a fully-equipped big proscenium theater…and is home to several hundred students and teachers from throughout the world.

'Out of Sterno' begins with meeting Dotty (Nora Thomas), the 23 year old heroine of the play. She is peppy and funny, and expresses her positive slant on everything in her very small world. She also lets us know that her husband, Hamel (Rafael Medina) won't let her leave their apartment, but that she is fine with that. She spends her days working on art projects and watching video recordings of the day she met her husband, 7 years earlier.

True, in their seven years of marriage Hamel has forbidden her to leave their tiny apartment or speak to anyone, but Dotty is so very happy to spend her days watching video re-enactments of the day they first met. When a phone call from a mysterious woman threatens to tear their world asunder, Dotty must venture out into the vast city of Sterno, and try to discover what it is to be a "real" woman.

Enfrascada, by Tanya Saracho, is "a jarring comedy of hoodoo proportions." The play opens with best friends Alicia (Roxanne Tapia), Yesenia (Juliet Salazar) and Carolina (Alix Hudson) watching a concert in summer: Yess is checking out her new man playing in the band, Caro is concerned with buying a house and getting pregnant, and Ali is thrilled about working on a thematic of Grace for the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Arts. It's a typical day for the trio. But when Alicia finds out that her long-term boyfriend, Diego, has left her for another woman, her world is turned upside down.  She moves in with her eccentric cousin Lulu (Liza Frolkis), goes to therapy, eats ice cream from the container. When therapy and yoga fall short in providing closure, however, she is persuaded by her two best friends to delve into the occult.
