Christina Norcross to Read Poems at Teatro Paraguas

Teatro Paraguas will host Christina Norcross in a reading of her amazing poetry work. She will be reading from past publications, as well as her two chapbooks, Amnesia and Awakenings and Still Life Stories. The reading will be at Teatro Paraguas, 3205 Calle Marie. The date is November 13 at 2pm.Free admission, donations gratefully accepted.

Amnesia and Awakenings (due to be published summer 2016 by Local Gems Press) is a collection of poems offering a guide map, through verse, for the transformation of spirit. Some poems focus on life chapters and challenges. Others paint a vivid picture of the changes in the natural world or the transformation of the body with age. Every poem engages with hope, like a furtive bird singing on a branch, to no one in particular, and also to everyone. These poems ask the reader to listen and be more tender, more patient, with the self that is emerging every day.

Still Life Stories (due to be published late summer/early fall 2016 by Aldrich Press/Kelsay Books) is a poetic antidote of hope and human connection, at a time when the isolation of modern living leaves us with many questions. Still Life Stories explores the themes of family wisdom, spirit guiding us, finding the stillness within, seeking one's artistic path and celebrating joy. Each slice of life and snapshot of solitude offered in this collection allows the reader to pause and consider the inner life of each narrator. The poems of Still Life Stories help bring us closer to our true nature - our true spirit.

Christina Norcross is the author of 5 poetry collections including, Land & Sea: Poetry Inspired by Art (2007) with co-author Irene Ruddock, Unsung Love Songs (2010), The Red Drum (2013), The Lava Storyteller (2013), and Living Nature's Moments: A Conversation Between Poetry and Photography (2014) with co-author, Patricia Bashford. She is one of the co-founders of Random Acts of Poetry and Art Day and a regular contributor to the Art Ambush Project.
