ZigZag Circus Presents UNDER THE COVERS: UNPLUGGED At The 2019 Adelaide Fringe Festival

With the annual Adelaide Fringe festival again on the horizon, many local artists and arts companies are deep in rehearsal to present their latest creative offerings to Adelaide audiences.

One such company is Zigzag Circus, a not-for-profit community circus school offering classes in all manner of circus arts, exclusively for adults and teenagers. The group is once again presenting their show "Under the Covers", with stunning circus acts performed to cover songs. This year, though, the show carries the tag-line "Unplugged", reflecting the darker theme of this years show.

Artistic director Samuel Koh says of his inspiration for this years show "This is the third year that Zigzag Circus has presented Under the Covers. We have kept the use of cover songs as the show's namesake. Our previous two seasons have been light-hearted adventures, but this year Under The Covers takes a existential plunge, delving into the emotions and uncertainties surrounding death. We are tackling this theme through a exploration of of loss, memory and release; but not necessarily in a bleak setting either! Under The Covers will take audiences on a journey that traverses a spectrum of human emotion, before concluding with a breath-taking finale."

Previous Adelaide Fringe seasons of Under the Covers have been rapturously received by both the public and critics alike, bringing the student performers the accolade of a swathe of four-and-five star reviews and gushing praise.

Zigzag Circus has been operating in Adelaide and Glenelg for over 12 years, and each week welcome a diverse range of people who have formed a tight-knit community around circus arts.

The show runs in the Empyrean at Gluttony from the 1st to the 3rd of March. Tickets are available at Fringetix. For those wishing to get involved, information on Zigzag Circus' classes can be found on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/circuszigzag
