The Alliance Française, in partnership with STUDIOCANAL and in association with Mercury Cinema, is proud to present the Alliance Française Classic Film Festival 14-15 October at the Mercury cinema, 13 Morphett Street, Adelaide.

A complement to the renowned Alliance Française French Film Festival, the Alliance Française Classic Film Festival aims to annually rediscover classic masterpieces of French cinema, highlighting a talent, actor or director who has made an indelible contribution to France's celebrated film industry.

'Les Blondes', the theme of this edition, celebrates emblematic actresses in iconic French films from 1952 to 1975: Catherine Deneuve, Jean Seberg, Romy Schneider and Simone Signoret. Decorated figures of French cinema, each artist is a revered symbol of French culture whose talent and presence has reverberated far beyond the confines of cinema.

Between romance and drama, comedy and adventure, the 2016 line-up will feature renowned titles from STUDIOCANAL's archive vault in Paris. Each film will screen once over one weekend - a window to go back in time and be transported by these classics.

Morgane Blondel National Festival Manager says, 'France is the birthplace of cinema, boasting one of the most dynamic film industries today and an un-paralleled archive to be explored. The Alliance Française Classic Film Festival presents an opportunity to showcase this rich history of French film culture to our ever growing Australian audience'.

Audiences will have a chance to savour these selected classics for the first time, or indulge in them again, as they were meant to be experienced on the silver screen

All non-English language films have English subtitles.
