International sensation Equus by the late Peter Shaffer will be performed by the team from Adapt Enterprises at The Bakehouse Theatre this November.

Equus is a unique piece of theatre, presenting a complex and surreal exploration of religion and sanity. Above all, it explores whether our passions are destructive.

Centering on DR. Martin Dysart, a dissatisfied and disaffected psychiatrist, Equus follows Dysart as he delves deeper and deeper into the murky depths of the mind of his young patient, Alan Strang. Beneath Alan's complacent manner, Dr. Dysart reveals a fervent, passionate power, challenging the role of religion and authority within society. Can Dr. Dysart help Alan or is it Dysart himself who truly needs to be saved?

Originally performed in 1970s England, Equus is one of the standout works of theatre in the last fifty years. It gained popularity in recent times when Daniel Radcliffe famously played Alan on Broadway in 2007, after Harry Potter. Featuring a local ensemble brimming with talent, this production will challenge audiences with a performance that will enthrall from beginning to end.

Equus at The Bakehouse Theatre from November 10th - 26th; with twelve shows only. Tickets are available from The Bakehouse Theatre, www.bakehousetheatre.com, or at the door (subject to availability). This collaboration is the creative byproduct of Ross Vosvotekas, who plays the physiatrist Dysart, directs and produces, "I wouldn't be able to stage this complex production without the expertise of all these talented, amazing and dedicated people."
