Award Winning FLESH & BONE Comes to Adelaide Fringe

Award winning UK company Unpolished Theatre's production of Flesh & Bone was a smash-hit at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, winning the Holden Street Theatres' Edinburgh Fringe Award, The Scotsman Award and the Fringe Sell out Award and receiving more than ten four and five star reviews from Edinburgh's critics. Now its Adelaide's turn.

Flesh & Bone which will play in The Studio at Holden Street Theatres (34 Holden Street Hindmarsh) from 13 February (preview) to 18 March gives the residents of an East London tower block a stage, through their wickedly eloquent voices and their outpourings of uberly bloated tongue.

It's a gritty, darkly funny, fast-paced-in-your-face production, where language is king; Londoner street talk, cockney slang, text, poetry and Shakespeare-inspired lyricism are brought together to explore London's working-class population.

Meet Granddad (Nick T Frost), Jamal (Alessandro Babalola), Kelly (Olivia Brady), Terry (Elliot Warren) and Reiss (Michael Jinks) who all open the doors into their lives, connected by blood, love, illicit substances, anger, and a whole lot of heart.

Unpolished Theatre was formed in 2016 by Elliot Warren and Olivia Brady, who forged a brilliant working relationship and friendship at drama school in Bournemouth creating work both throughout and after their training. In early 2016, both back home in London, Elliot wrote a short film called Stick Up which Olivia produced and which went viral on the internet and gained 9.7 million views on Facebook.

Unpolished Theatre was awarded the prestigious Charlie Hartill Special Reserve Fund for theatre by the Pleasance Theatre Trust - a designated, rolling fund towards the production costs of bringing selected projects to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. During their run they received overwhelming critical acclaim, as well as winning a prestigious Fringe First Award. The show and company have since continued to receive support from the Pleasance, as well as developmental space from the National Theatre Studio.

About Pleasance Futures and the Charlie Hartill Fund:
At the very heart of the Pleasance Theatre Trust's curated program at both the Festival Fringe and at the Pleasance in London, is their development arm Pleasance Futures. The Pleasance's enduring mission is to provide a launch pad for the very best emerging talent and the brightest new ideas.
