The Adelaide Critics Circle awards saw a great crowd gather on the mezzanine of the AC Arts building in Adelaide on Monday 2nd of December. Members of the arts community, supporters, friends, and families all turned out to find out who were going to be the winners for 2013.

The awards were opened with a surprise speech from circle founder, Robyn Archer, and then by the honourable John Hill, former Minister for The Arts in South Australia.

The winners of the awards were:

Individual Award
Paul Blackwell, actor, Vere, State Theatre Company of South Australia

Group Award
Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, conductor Arvo Volmer, Salome for State Opera of South Australia

Emerging Artist of the Year
Jordan Cowan, actor, The Dark Room, Flying Penguin Productions/State Theatre Company of South Australia

Independent Arts Foundation Award for Innovation
Jason Sweeney, Stereopublic, Adelaide Festival

Visual Arts - Emerging Artist
Jessie Lumb

Individual Award - Amateur Theatre
Megan Dansie, director, Richard III, University of Adelaide Theatre Guild


Group Award - Amateur Theatre
University of Adelaide Theatre Guild, Richard III

Lifetime Achievement Award
