Lamb's Players Theatre Hosts Crown Awards, Honors Coronado's Non-profits 6/14
Lamb's Players Theatre will host the first annual Crown Awards honoring key volunteers of Coronado's leading non-profit organizations on Sunday, June 14, 2009. Carol LeBeau, news anchor at KGTV Channel 10, will emcee this inaugural event. Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka will be presenting the awards to the honorees. The Crown Awards take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at LPT's Coronado theatre.
The purpose of the Crown Awards is to recognize the work of volunteers at local non-profit organizations and to encourage future volunteerism. Twelve Coronado non-profits will participate, each choosing a volunteer to receive this year's Crown Award. Honorees will be selected based on their commitment to the organization and for volunteerism that goes above and beyond reasonable expectations. Their passion for the mission and vision of the organization are also key factors in being selected. This is the first year that this event will be held with hopes of it becoming an annual tradition. "Volunteers are the unsung heroes of non-profit organizations," said Robert Smyth, Producing Artistic Director at Lamb's Players Theatre. "Without their hard work and commitment, these organizations would not be able to function. We hope the Crown Awards become an annual event, to celebrate the amazing work and commitment of local volunteers. They are an important part of what makes Coronado such a remarkable city."Participating Non-Profit Organizations and their 2009 Crown Award Honorees:
