Long Beach Symphony Will Perform DISNEY’S PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL in Concert

Long Beach Symphony will kick off its “SoundWaves Series” as it presents Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in concert featuring Klaus Badelt & Hans Zimmer's score performed live to the film.  The concert will be led by acclaimed conductor Susie Benchasil Seiter. This one-night-only event will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the new F&M Bank Amphitheater in Long Beach, CA.

Audiences will be among the first to experience the magic of a live film concert at the new state-of-the-art amphitheater, marking Long Beach Symphony's highly anticipated debut performance at the venue. Combining swashbuckling adventure, cinematic storytelling, and the power of live orchestral music by the sea and under the stars, the evening promises an unforgettable experience for families, film lovers, and music fans of all ages.

Free Admission offer for Children 14 and Under: Thanks to the generous support of the Port of Long Beach and the RuMBa Foundation of Long Beach, children ages 14 and under may receive free admission; accompanying adult tickets are $20. This offer is valid only for seats in a designated section available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

“We are thrilled to help bring this extraordinary new venue to life,” says Kelly Ruggirello, President of Long Beach Symphony. “This performance represents everything we love about live music — excitement, imagination, and shared experiences that bring generations together. We are proud to invite the community to experience the adventure of Pirates of the Caribbean in a completely new way, where the music, film, and atmosphere create an unforgettable evening beneath the night sky.”

Oscar and GRAMMY Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and his production team have scored each Pirates of the Caribbean adventure for the franchise.  The original score raised the bar for thematic complexity with its orchestral swashbuckling flavor accentuated by the use of horns for melody.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is based on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disney Parks and is the first installment of the film series.  Set in the 18th century, Captain Jack Sparrow is roguish yet charming, as he sails the Caribbean on his ship the Black Pearl. But Jack's idyllic life capsizes when his nemesis, the wily Captain Barbossa, steals Jack's ship and later attacks the town of Port Royal, kidnapping the Governor's beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Swann. In a gallant attempt to rescue her and recapture the Black Pearl, Elizabeth's childhood friend, Will Turner, joins forces with Jack. Unbeknownst to Will, whose father once served with the crew of the Black Pearl, there is a curse that has doomed Barbossa and his men to live forever as the undead.
