René Auberjonois And Christina Picklers Picked As May 4th Replacements For Public Radio International's SELECTED SHORTS

By:

Actors Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker, who were to appear with host Isaiah Sheffer in Public Radio International’s popular series “Selected Shorts,” on May 4  at the JCCSF,  have had to cancel the engagement due to conflicting obligations. The unique night of literature in performance in Kanbar Hall will now feature René Auberjonois and Christina Pickles, who join Sheffer in reading short fiction focused on that SF obsession, food!

The program is as follows:

But the One on the Right by Dorothy Parker - read by Christina Pickles,  Taste by Roald Dahl - read by René Auberjonois, Sorry Fugu by T.C. Boyle - read by Isaiah Sheffer.

René Auberjonois, last appeared on Broadway in The Sly Fox. He won the Tony Award for his role in the musical CoCo and was nominated for Tony Awards for his work in City of Angels, Big River and The Good Doctor. His repertory credits include performances with the American Conservatory Theatre and the Mark Taper Forum, of which he is a founding member. Among his film credits are M.A.S.H. and McCabe and Mrs. Miller. He starred in the television series Benson, for which he received an Emmy nomination, and played Odo on, and directed several episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. For several seasons, he was a leading player on David E. Kelley's Boston Legal.

Christina Pickles received awards for her stage performances in Cloud 9, Undiscovered Country, and Darlinghissima: The Letters of Janet Flanner. Her feature films include Grace of My Heart, Legends of the Fall, Romeo and Juliet, The Wedding Singer, Group, and Valerie Flake. She was nominated for five Emmy Awards for her work on St. Elsewhere and was also nominated for her role as Monica and Ross's dysfunctional mother on Friends.

Isaiah Sheffer is a founder and the artistic director of Symphony Space, as well as host and director of Selected Shorts live at Symphony Space, on tour and on public radio nationwide.  He is also a co-creator of The Thalia Follies political cabaret.
