Chummy explores the mind of a serial killer in the moments before his first murder. Desperate to control himself, the mysterious psychopath 'Chummy' pleads with private investigator Jackie Straker to stop him killing in a gripping new stage play by BAFTA winner John Foster (Letters from a Killer, BBC's Omnibus). A 21st Century Theatre-noir, Chummy is a thrilling story of addiction, obsession and the lack of support that drives people to act on their most secret desires.

Staging another genre-piece after their critically acclaimed sci-fi hit Stasis, Encompass Productions are producing BAFTA Winner John Foster's neo-noir Chummy in its world-premiere at the newly refurbishEd White Bear Theatre in Kennington. In the cast is Megan Pemberton, Calum Speed and Jessica Tomlinson.

On the Chummy creative team is Off West End Award-nominated set and costume designer Michael Leopold, whose recent credits include Hamlet at The Bussey Building and A Flea in Her Ear at the Tabard Theatre. He joins highly-praised composer Alex Burnett whose work has been most recently heard on Channel 4's award-winning The Last Leg, and lighting designer Owen Pritchard-Smith who has designed for numerous Brit and Grammy award-winning artists including Sam Smith and De La Soul.

Writer and academic John Foster, known for his BAFTA-winning BBC Omnibus on Raymond Chandler and Patrick Swayze-starring Letters from a Killer, as well as recent sell-out play Shot at Dawn said "I am very excited that Encompass is producing Chummy, a noir thriller for the stage. Encompass has always been adventurous in their productions with an interest in genre, cross-genre and cinematic ideas as well as theatrical innovation. Chummy puts the tropes of noir on stage where the power of theatre intensifies the experience of the hardboiled mean streets narrative."

Director Alice Kornitzer promises to bring a certain cinematic feel - nodding strongly to the neo-noir genre rarely seen on stage for a unique exploration of this psychological thriller. Artistic Director of Encompass Productions, Jonathan Woodhouse, said "The process of bringing Chummy to life has been truly exhilarating; noir is rare genre on stage and we can't wait to show audiences our stamp on it at the beautifully refurbishEd White Bear Theatre".

Chummy runs at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington from 23rd May - 10th June.
