Defying Subtlety: The Songs of Ed Bell is headed to The Battersea Barge, London on Sunday 20th December, 8pm. Tickets £12-18. In September 2013, Ed Bell moved from London to New York City to learn the Subtle Art of The American Musical. Lesson Number One: America is not a country of subtlety.

On 20th December, Ed and a cast of West End performers present an evening of his work, including songs from past projects and the forthcoming one-woman musical My 80-Year-Old Boyfriend. There'll be laughs, there'll be tears, and there'll be more anecdotes from the New World than in Christopher Columbus's journal.

The concert features Belinda Wollaston (Through The Mill, Mamma Mia, Torch Song Trilogy), Luke Baker (American Idiot, Sunny Afternoon, Beautiful Thing), Emma Housley (The Wizard of Oz) and Tempe Nell.

Songs are by Ed Bell in collaboration with David Caldwell (Forbidden Broadway), Richy Hughes (A Knight at The Museum, Mr Popper's Penguins), Christian Duhamel (A Beautiful End), Charissa Bertels (A Christmas Story: The Musical, If/Then) and Joseph Guarino. Orchestrations are by Simon Nathan (Bend It Like Beckham, The John Wilson Orchestra).

Ed Bell is a songwriter, musical director and educator. Past shows include Gary of the Antarctic (Britten Theatre) and The Way Through the Woods(Edinburgh Fringe). He is currently working on My 80-Year-Old Boyfriend, a one-woman musical for actress Charissa Bertels, and a full-length musical about the Queen. He is emcee and CEO of The Song Foundry, a startup in global songwriting education.
