Fresh from acclaimed performances across Europe, including with the United Kingdom's prestigious Academy of Ancient Music, Triple ARIA winner Joseph Tawadros is bringing his breathtaking music back to Sydney's Studio 505 on the 23rd July.

The internationally acclaimed oud virtuoso will be joined by his brother and percussion wiz James Tawadros, the extraordinary jazz pianist Matt McMahon and mercurial double bassist Karl Dunnicliff.

The program showcases some of Joseph's award-winning compositions, including music from his most recent ARIA winning album, Permission to Evaporate. The concert will also feature fresh tracks from Joseph's 12th album Truth Seekers, Lovers and Warriors recently launched at Studio 505, just before Joseph set off on his tour of the United Kingdom.

"It's great to be back on Australian soil after an incredible experience performing with the UK's prestigious Academy of Ancient Music. I'm excited to return to Studio 505 where I recently released Truth Seekers Lovers and Warriors. We have been overwhelmed with amazing feedback since the launch of the album and can't wait to perform some of these popular tracks. It's always a pleasure to be joined by such talented musicians on stage and I look forward to seeing everyone at Studio 505 on the 23rd July."

Despite being just 31, Joseph Tawadros has already achieved great success. Every single one of his albums has been nominated for ARIA recognition and his recent albums Permission to Evaporate, Chameleons of the White Shadows and Concerto of the Greater Sea won ARIAs.

The precursor to the lute, the oud is a beautiful wooden stringed instrument and Joseph has an international reputation for being one of the world's best oud players. Joseph blends and blurs musical tradition and crosses genres and the end result is magical music for the soul.

He has recorded, composed for and performed with many of the biggest international jazz and classical artists including jazz luminaries Béla Fleck, Richard Bona, Joey DeFrancesco, Roy Ayers, Howard Johnson, and Jean-Louis Matinie, John Abercrombie, John Patitucci, and Jack DeJohnette, and tabla master Zakir Hussain, sarangi master Sultan Khan, and Camerata Salzburg. Among the more local artists with whom he has performed and recorded are Richard Tognetti and the ACO, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, Neil Finn, William Barton, Lior, The Song Company, and Katie Noonan. Joseph continues to create modern platforms for one of the world's oldest instruments, remaining true to its soul while pairing it with unlikely accents including a Hammond Organ, a Vibraphone, an Accordion, a Tuba, a Banjo and an Electric Bass.
