CROSSING commemorates the 200th anniversary of the best-known European crossing of the Blue Mountains and will be performed live at explorer Gregory Blaxland's home, Brush Farm House, Eastwood from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 September 2014.

Award-winning writer Wendy Blaxland and her co-producer daughter Jessica Blaxland Ashby are direct descendants of Gregory Blaxland.

Set in the early 1800s, CROSSING takes you travelling back in time to cross the wonderful, difficult scenery of the Blue Mountains with Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson. Listen to echoes from the Aboriginal past, watch Cox and his convicts build the road to the fertile plains of Bathurst and meet pioneering free settlers such as the Hawkins family and their eight children.

Three actors, Ben Coombs, Lucy Green and Michael Rebetzke, play forty characters to recreate the excitement, danger and humour of the journeys. Listen to the bellbirds calling, watch out for fearsome tarentulopes - and will you choose salt beef or fresh kangaroo tail for dinner?

CROSSING is being rehearsed and performed in the unique setting of Gregory Blaxland's home at Brush Farm House at Eastwood, now beautifully restored.

The creative team includes director Sher Kearney, composer Sarah de Jong and designer Deirdre Burges. A special song has also been composed for CROSSING 2914 by Darug woman and musical educator Jacinta Tobin.
