Act IV Theatre Company - women who want to make theatre for women - are proud to present the hilarious British play The Naked Truth by Dave Simpson. Opening April 6 at Sydney's newest independent theatre venue - The Blood Moon Theatre at Kings Cross' World Bar - performances will raise money for women's cancer charities.
You wake up one morning and notice a lump on your breast. You find out your husband is having an affair. You're struggling with whether to stay with him for the sake of the kids. You are three stone overweight and fed up with diets that fail. You're the mouse that cannot get a man. That's The Naked Truth. Set in a pole-dancing class, The Naked Truth is a brilliantly funny play about sisterhood, featuring an all-female cast. One beleaguered teacher takes on the task of training five very different women as they struggle hilariously to conquer pole dancing. As their stories unfold, they share laughter and tears, tantrums and brutal truths. It's a show for women, about real women, that men absolutely must see (if they dare!). Act IV Theatre Company presented Alan Ball's sassy southern belles in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress at TAP Gallery in 2014 and again hop the pond to bring to life a group of sometimes crass, yet charismatic women from England's working class north who find commonality in what proves a (literally) revealing exercise class.Performance details
