DeBartolo Performing Arts Center to Host 8th Annual ANDkids World Film Festival

The DeBartolo Performing Arts Center's 8th annual ANDkids World Film Festival at the Browning Cinema covers twenty-six countries in four days with a fantastic selection of family-friendly films that appeal to tiny tots, tweens and all ages in between! August 3-6, enjoy a diverse line-up of entertaining and educational free films and activities appropriate for children of all ages.

The center's newly appointed executive director and ANDkids curator Ted Barron says this about the upcoming festival, "For the past eight years, ANDkids has offered families and those that love cinema our region's only free children's film festival screening incredible animated and live-action films from all genres and about a range of kid-friendly topics and themes. These are films with a global perspective our community wouldn't be able to experience anywhere else."

In between the screenings, there will be fun activities planned for children, including story hour, coloring stations, games and more!

This year's ANDkids World Film Festival is sponsored by the Lauran E. and Justin L. Tuck Endowment for Children's Programming and by WNIT Public Television.

A great experience for young film lovers. As in years past, we have invited young film lovers in the community to participate in planning and presenting the festival. Volunteers will fill one of the following roles:

· Film Reviewers- Preview films selected for the festival, write reviews of 90-120 words and introduce films in front of a live audience.

· Ushers-Act as festival greeters and ushers.

· Narrators-Read aloud subtitles during screenings of international films with English subtitles.

Since opening in September 2004, the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center has become an integral part of the University's vision and commitment to BECOMING a preeminent research university. It is the University's leading presenter of world-class artistic programming, one with an institutional focus on contemporary works. As an academic space, the center enhances the scholarship, teaching and practice of the performing and cinematic arts. As a community space, the center welcomes more than 100,000 patrons annually, including thousands of K-12 students in education and related artistic programs. Presenting Series and Browning Cinema programs are curated to increase the center's capacity to educate, enlighten and engage.
