Magnet Theatre has been invited to showcase its production EKHAYA (Home) at a renowned international children's theatre festival in Italy. Five of Magnet Theatre's young South African performers have been given the chance of a lifetime: to open the prestigious La Baracca - Testoni Ragazzi children's theatre festival in Bologna.

Magnet Theatre has launched a fundraising campaign to make the tour to the festival possible and is calling on people to support it, no matter how small the contribution. Magnet Theatre's goal is to raise ZAR 63,560 (USD 4,422) using primarily the Generosity by Indiegogo online platform, accessible via the following link: www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/send-five-young-south-african-performers-to-italy/x/124310.

EKHAYA (Home), is an early years play which engages audiences ages 3-7 with original music, dance, and storytelling, all focused on the notion of home. It is a heartwarming and uniquely South African production, and the chance to tour it internationally will be an incredible opportunity not only for Magnet Theatre but also for the five talented young theatre-makers. The cast of performers are Jason Jacobs, Athenkosi Mfamela, Nolufefe Ntshuntshe and Babalwa Makwetu, with director Koleka Putuma. Magnet Theatre co-founder, Jennie Reznek, comments:

TREE/BOOM/UMTHI, Magnet Theatre's first performance for early years audiences, was invited to perform at the Testoni Ragazzi festival in 2014 and has since toured extensively, giving its four performers the chance to travel the world and earn a steady income for years afterward. Help us make magic once again and put this extraordinary work of these South African artists on the map!

Magnet Theatre has been at the forefront of the theatre industry for twenty nine years, creating groundbreaking educational programmes and South African productions that have toured nationally and abroad to acclaim across four continents and twenty four international festivals. They have one of the only theatre training bridging programmes in the Western Cape, providing training between community training and university study and the professional theatre industry.
