Court Theatre, under the leadership of Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert, announces casting for the Chicago premiere of The Hard Problem by Tom Stoppard, directed by Charles Newell. The Hard Problem runs March 9 - April 9, 2017 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue in Chicago.

To the tune of classic songs like "If I Loved You," "You'll Never Walk Alone," "June is Bustin' Out All Over," and many more, CAROUSEL transports audiences to turn of the century New England for a romantic tale that transcends heaven and earth.  A ne'er-do-well carnival barker falls in love with a naive girl as the merry-go-round of life spins on and on through hope, tragedy, and ultimately, redemption.

Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre (CAMT) has created 'The New World Symphony: Dvorak in America,' a play chronicling the American years (1892-1895) of Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, during which he produced a flurry of 'American' works. GOH Productions and Dvorak-American Heritage Association (DAHA) will present the piece as a work in progress January 30 and 31, 2016 at Bohemian National Hall, 321 East 73rd Street (Upper East Side). This production is preparatory to the play's upcoming world premiere run, which will be presented by La Mama Experimental Theatre, 66 East 4th Street (East Village), six weeks later: from March 10 to 27, 2016 (see more info below). Darren Criss just concluded his limited 12-week engagement in Broadway's HEDIWG AND THE ANGRY INCH, the Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival, yesterday, July 19. He started performances on April 29 at the Belasco Theatre. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Taye Diggs will take over the role starting Wednesday, July 22, making his return to Broadway after a decade-long hiatus. Diggs will also play the title role in the acclaimed musical for a limited 12-week engagement.

Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 204th season with an all-new production of Broadway and Hollywood's smash-hit, GREASE. Directed by Bruce Lumpkin, with choreography by Michelle Gaudette, this musical extravaganza is currently in previews and opens on May 22nd, running through July 14th on the WST Mainstage. Puppets and live performers enact an enigmatic tale of early World War II in 'King Executioner,' the newest creation of Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre written and directed by Vit Horejš. The play is loosely based on 'When you are a King, You will be an Executioner' ('A Jak Krolem a Jak Katem Bedzies,' 1968) by the Polish magical realist novelist Tadeusz Nowak (1930-1991). Portland Center Stage presents Grey Gardens: The Musical, the Broadway smash hit inspired by the cult documentary classic that redefined our notions of eccentricity, American royalty and glamour in decline.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) continues its 2008/2009 Season with the New York premiere of THE SAVANNAH DISPUTATION, a new play by Evan Smith (Psych and The Uneasy Chair at Playwrights Horizons, Remedial English for the Young Playwrights Festival at Playwrights Horizons, Servicemen at The New Group). This will be Mr. Smith's fourth collaboration with the theater company. Directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago, New Jerusalem), in his Playwrights Horizons debut, the production will began previews on Friday, February 6, 2009 with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 3 at 7PM. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, March 15 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

At a special ceremony in the historic El Portal Theater in North Hollywood on Tuesday January 29, nine legendary leading ladies of American motion pictures, television and Broadway productions donated objects from their award-winning careers to the National Museum of American History.
