Caught Photos - Off-Broadway

On a Japanese beach, teenage sisters Hanako (Kirsty Rider) and Reiko (Kae Alexander) are caught up in a storm. Reiko survives while Hanako is lost to the sea. Their mother (Rosalind Chao), however, can't shake the feeling that her missing daughter is still alive, and soon family tragedy takes on a global political dimension. Set in Japan and North Korea, Francis Turnly's epic new thriller is directed by Artistic Director of the Tricycle Theatre Indhu Rubasingham in a co-production with the Tricycle Theatre.

The award-winning Firefly Theater and Films, in association with THINK TANK GALLERY and Vs. Theatre, present the Los Angeles Premiere of the 2016 Obie-winner for playwriting, CAUGHT, by Christopher Chen. San Francisco Opera's 2016-17 Season opens Friday, September 9 with a gala performance of Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chenier in a new production by Sir David McVicar. Company Music Director Nicola Luisotti leads a stellar cast, including three international stars making their San Francisco Opera debuts in the demanding lead roles: South Korean tenor Yonghoon Lee in the title role, Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi as Maddalena di Coigny and Georgian baritone George Gagnidze as Carlo Gerard. The opening night festivities are distinguished by San Francisco Opera Guild's glamorous Opera Ball 2016: La Revolution et L'Amour and BRAVO! Club's Annual Opening Night Gala. The opening of the Company's 94th season also marks the beginning of Matthew Shilvock's inaugural season as General Director. Shilvock is the seventh General Director in the Company's history.

A BRONX TALE THE MUSICAL will open on Broadway on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Previews will begin Thursday, November 3, 2016. The new musical will be co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo. A Bronx Tale: The Musical features a book by Chazz Palminteri, music by Alan Menken and lyrics byGlenn Slater.

Jobsite closes their 2015-16 season with a timely drama from a modern master of the American theater: Donald Margulies' Time Stands Still plays July 8-31, 2016, in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company. Artistic Director of The Old Vic Matthew Warchus, composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling, and designer Rob Howell, four of the creators of the international musical sensation Matilda The Musical, have joined forces with writer Danny Rubin to collaborate on a new musical based on his 1993 hit film GROUNDHOG DAY. It previews from Monday 11 July 2016 with a press night on Tuesday 16 August 2016.

Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) presents the beloved musical classic, WEST SIDE STORY. Shakespeare's immortal 'Romeo & Juliet' is transported to 20th century New York City, where two idealistic young lovers, with only their love in common, find themselves caught between warring street gangs and clashing cultures. WEST SIDE STORY runs from Wednesday, June 22 thru Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Sideshow Theatre Company, recent winner of the 2016 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theatre Award, will conclude its 2015/16 Season with the Chicago premiere of CAUGHT, a new, head-spinning collaboration with playwright Christopher Chen, director Seth Bockley and Xiong Art Gallery. CAUGHT will play May 29 - July 3, 2016 at Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. West Side Story begins performances at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater tonight, June 1, and runs through June 26, 2016. The official press opening night is Sunday, June 5, 2016, at 7:00 pm. Broadway In Chicago is currently presenting the return engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING. The World's #1 Musical leap tonto the stage of the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W Randolph) on December 2, 2015, where it will continue through January 17, 2016. Heather Headley, the musical's original Nala on Broadway, attended Saturday night's performance, where she caught up with the tour's current Nala, Nia Holloway. New Theatre's 2016 Season line up continues the company's legacy of staging productions that will challenge ideas and discuss issues.

The Omaha Community Playhouse opens its 2015-2016 season with MAN OF LA MANCHA, the multiple-Tony Award winning musical based on the novel Don Quixote. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, the story tells of Miguel de Cervantes and his imprisonment during the Spanish Inquisition. Cervantes enlists his fellow prisoners into the telling of Don Quixote, knight errant, and his escapades as he fights for valor. I caught the preview last night and I have to warn you-it would be a mistake to miss this one.
