Photo Flash: First Look at Kokandy Productions' LOVING REPEATING at Theater Wit

 Kokandy Productions is pleased to continue its 2015 season with Loving Repeating, a musical tribute to the life and loves of celebrated American author Gertrude Stein. Using Stein's own works as lyrics, Loving Repeating is adapted by Frank Galati (The Grapes of Wrath, The Accidental Tourist), with music by Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island, Seussical) direction by Co-Artistic Director Allison Hendrix, music direction by Resident Music Director Kory Danielson and choreography by Andrea Louise Soule.  Loving Repeating will play July 18 - August 30, 2015 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at, by calling (773) 975-8150 or in person at the Theater Wit Box Office.  The press opening is Monday, July 20 at 7:30 pm. (more...)

Directed by Keira Fromm, A KID LIKE JAKE will play now through March 15, 2015 at the Greenhouse Theater Center (Upstairs Studio), 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Loving Repeating: A Musical of Gertrude Stein - The West Coast premiere of the chamber musical by Tony Award winners Stephen Flaherty and Frank Galati, adapted from the writings of Gertrude Stein. A musical about loving life, loving thinking, loving making art, and loving love, Loving Repeating explores Stein's capricious love affair with language, self expression, and her lifelong companion, Alice B. Toklas. Following Stein from her student days in the late 19th century to the height of her artistic era in Paris as one of the 'lost generation,' the distinctive score illuminates Stein's world, bringing fresh perspective to her poetic texts and illuminating her deep love of the way American language perpetually changes to reflect the voices of the people. A perplexing, exhilarating, hilarious, and emotionally giddy musical as unique as Stein herself. (more...)

Florida Studio Theatre brings back the popular summer hit Always...Patsy Cline for a special two week limited engagement. Patsy Cline was the original cross-over sensation with her acclaimed hit 'Walkin' After Midnight' in 1957 (#2 on the Country Charts and #12 on the Pop Charts) and followed in the early 60s with 'I Fall to Pieces,' 'Crazy' and 'She's Got You.' These songs and 24 others will pay tribute to the one-of-a-kind Patsy Cline. Cline's rise to legendary stardom is told through personal letters shared with her best friend and biggest fan, Louise. From her performance at the Grand Ole Opry to her tragic death in 1963, Patsy Cline will 'always' have a place in country music and with music enthusiasts across multiple genres. (more...)
