The Palace Theater is offering several opportunities for behind the scenes tours of the historic venue in June. Dates are: Wednesday June 9, 11:00AM – 12:30PM; Wednesday, June 30, 6:30 -8:00PM

The Palace Theater is offering a behind the scenes tour of the venue on Tuesday, January 12 from 11:00 am – 12:30pm and Saturday, January 23 from 11:00am – 12:30pm.  The ninety-minute tour includes exploring areas of the venue not seen by the public and detailed information about the history and architecture provided by well versed tour guides.

The Palace Theater management announced today they are adding more dates to the schedule for the popular monthly tours of the historic venue in response to public demand.  Each tour is limited to 20 people to comply with COVID -19 safety guidelines.

San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock today announced the Company's 98th season, which opens on September 11, 2020 with an Opening Night Celebration featuring soprano Albina Shagimuratova and tenor Pene Pati in concert with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra conducted by Music Director Designate Eun Sun Kim. With James Levine on the podium, and Thomas Hampson in the title role, Deborah Voigt will make her role debut as Marie in Alban Berg's harrowing opera Wozzeck at New York's Metropolitan Opera (March 6 - 22). The revival of this 'arrestingly abstract ' (New York Times) staging of Berg's landmark opera is highly anticipated, pairing two beloved American singers with a conductor - the Met's music director - who is widely regarded as one of the work's most passionate advocates. The fifth and final performance of Wozzeck this season will be broadcast live on Saturday, March 22 in the Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast series on WQXR 105.9 FM and online at www.wqxr.org. In April, Voigt heads out for a four-city recital tour, taking her to three venues in California and a return engagement in the 75th anniversary season of Boston's popular Celebrity Series. On May 14, she returns to the Met to host the 'Live in HD' broadcast of Rossini's La Cenerentola.

December concerts include an all-Tchaikovsky programme, Dickens's A Christmas Carol, Conductor Steven Reineke with a Pops Christmas, and the passion of Handel's Messiah.

Live From Lincoln Center will ring in the new year with a special broadcast of the New York Philharmonic's Opening Gala concert from Avery Fisher Hall featuring Music Director Alan Gilbert and special guest cello soloist Yo-Yo Ma. The Opening Gala concert, to be taped on September 25, will feature dance-inspired orchestral works, including Azul by Osvaldo Golijov, a cello concert written for Ma; the world premiere of an arrangement of Astor Piazzolla's La serie del Ángel by Octavio Brunetti, commissioned by the New York Phliharmonic; and two classics by Maurice Ravel,Alborada del gracioso and Bolero. Thoroughly Modern Millie may be a recent Broadway hit, but this masterpiece deserves it's place alongside the classics of American musical theatre, and the cast of Millie at the Ogunquit Playhouse deserves more than a mere footnote in this show's history.
