Throughout the 2023–2024 season, the 13th presented under Artistic Director for Jazz, Jason Moran, the Kennedy Center commemorates Duke Ellington’s 125th birthday with institution-wide celebrations of the American icon who changed how the world heard music.

Cafe Nordo is proud to present the world premiere of 7th and Jacksoncreated by award-winning theatrical creator Sara Porkalob (The Dragon Cycle). 'It's always hard to follow an anniversary season, where you've pulled out all the stops for that special celebration,' confides Maine State Music Theatre's Artistic Director, Curt Dale Clark, as he sits down with Broadway World Maine to preview the company's upcoming 61st season. The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to kick off our year-long 90 Years of Dance at Wayne celebration with the annual December Dance Concert, December 7 and 8 at Detroit's Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  This year's show promises diverse and moving works showcasing highlights of dance through the decades. Her latest work, Halloween Unleashed: Dancing Bones, Tasting Darkness and the Skeleton Within, is a subversive comedy designed to spook adults and families in a live action rendition of Disney's 1929 animated masterpiece, The Skeleton Dance. Combined with images from the wild, capricious street theater of Haitian carnival, Halloween Unleashed offers punk attitude and visual high-jinx, in a dance where bones dance alone, shoes fly off feet, and skeletons turn into musical instruments.

From July 9-19 Japan Society's renowned summer film festival presents 28 features never before seen in New York

The Old Globe will throw open its doors for a 2015 Summer Season featuring Shakespeare on stage and in film, continuing its celebration of the Globe's 80th Anniversary and Balboa Park's Centennial. All of San Diego is invited to join us for a series of free Monday night films relating to Shakespeare through the eras to celebrate both the Balboa Park Centennial and the theatre's 80th Anniversary. Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Beth Accomando, author of the KPBS blog Cinema Junkie, will alternate introducing the films.

The complete cast and creative team have been announced for The Old Globe production of William Shakespeare's delightful and romantic Twelfth Night. Rebecca Taichman, whose production of the time-traveling Time and the Conways fascinated audiences last April, is back to direct the first show of the 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival. The Old Globe engagement will begin performances on June 21 and run through July 26, 2015, with opening night on Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m., in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

The schedule for this summer's Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival, which runs from July 20 to August 10, was announced today by Bill Bragin, Lincoln Center's Director of Public Programming. Nearly 100 free performances will take place across the plazas of Lincoln Center during three weeks. A special Memorial Concert for Pete and Toshi Seeger on July 20 will be followed by the official opening concert on July 23 with Larry Harlow's Hommy: A Latin Opera, the landmark work's first performance in 40 years.
