The Pearlman Sisters will present Devotedly, Sincerely Yours: The Story of the USO as part of the By Local series at The Annenberg Center October 18-19. Written by and starring Samantha Joy Pearlman, DSY is a swingin' big band portrait of a courageous female starlet of the United Service Organization (USO) who risked her life to entertain American troops overseas during World War II. The show is directed by Philadelphia native Kate Galvin, with Jamison Foreman serving as musical director. This new musical weaves archival text, patriotic jazz standards, and tap dancing to investigate war as experienced by a 'soldier in greasepaint.' (more...)

The story is about a prince and princess from two different kingdoms who were wed at infancy. While the prince anxiously anticipates meeting his now 21 year old bride, she has started a women's university, preaching the virtues of woman over man, and that 'man is nature's sole mistake'. When Princess Ida does not show up as agreed upon, Prince Hilarion and a couple of friends infiltrate the university as new students, and hilarity ensues. The two kings threaten war to solve the problem, the prince offers love. Ida must decide whether she can continue her noble experiment. (more...)

Lakeshore Light Opera's summer sing-alongs are back - for the 24th. straight year, would you believe? For the few amongst you who have never attended one of these events; each Today, we get together at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Pointe Claire and, starting at 8 pm., we sing an entire Gilbert and Sullivan opera. We provide scores (although we encourage you to bring your own if you have one) and we all sing everything - no soloists or divas, just people that like to sing! What's more, it's free. Writers Set for BRITISH MUSICAL FUTURES - A NIGHT OF NEW WRITING, Hosted by Stiles & Drewe

They are Stephanie Amies & Teddy Clements, Nick Barstow, Tim Connor, Ben Frost & Richard Hough, Tim Gilvin and John Kristian. The evening will be hosted by award-winning writing partnership George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and will take place on 19th April 2015 at the St James Studio.
